HAPPY-TOONIES
 
Stephan is happy about his Blue Mountain ski day with his kids on Saturday .
Paul W. is happy he had a family get together outside last Sunday to celebrate 3 birthdays .
Mike Jennings is happy to celebrate the 16th anniversary of More Sales .
Doug thanked the club for the Rotary Foundation donation , in honour of his mother . He is also happy Connie didn't suffer a concussion , when she slipped on the ice and fractured her arm this past week.
Laureen had a word of warning about transactions on Kijiji ... Her daughter sold her old broken down Suburban for $ 4100 , after the car dealer offered her $ 800.00 It was resold , and had the odometer rolled back , and was sold again for $ 12000.00 Very creative marketing .
Peter  told us about a neighbouring condo that was flipped after a purchase price of $ 475 K, then sold again for  $801K . Crazy real estate  pricing now !
Dave Thomas will be a grand dad this fall ! His son and daughter in law are returning home from BC this summer.
 
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
 

 
Laureen informed the club regarding the Boards further discussion about donations to RARE . She will discuss with the other President's options regarding sponsorships with RARE . The Garden plots are too expensive an investment . Instead of $ 25 K for the garden , we may consider sponsoring a naturalized area for $ 15 K . Trail sponsorship is also too expensive . We will go check out the property later in the spring .
 
Ken let us know that the club membership is interested in doing projects in a group , with club members , and family members involved together .
 
Dave Thomas advised us that Cambridge Bingo is open for business , and has a new name and logo . We are not yet required to volunteer there , due to COVID .
 
Stephan has a couple of boxes of gorgeous Cambridge North Rotary mugs at his office . Peter A. will be picking them up. We will give them to guest speakers  when we meet in person again.
 
Dean informed the club of International committee news . The club is sending $ 2500 to Egypt for the purchase of looms or sewing machines to manufacture quilts for fund raising .
The club is also donating $ 3500 to Haiti to help with a tele-health program organized by Betsi  Wall , involving FIDA .
 
GUEST SPEAKER
Jake Jennings introduced the guest speaker for today , Shelly Murphy , the Executive Director of  "Adults in Motion  " ( A.I. M. )
 
AIM provides in person programs , support , services and virtual programming for young adults with disabilities , and their families . Shelly would also like to thank our club , for our generous donation to her non-profit organization , established in 2009. There are 3 locations . The Cambridge location is in a space at Avenue Road Baptist Church .
AIM assists young adults to help each other , to be leaders , and to be useful in life , by encouraging growth , by providing community based programs , enhancing life experiences , building friendships , providing meaningful activities , creating real opportunities , increasing skill development , and inspiring inclusion .
The ratio of care  providers to participants is 1 to 5 .
Due to COVID , many changes to programming were required . The use of " buddy sticks " - six foot long poles with handles on each end , plexiglass partitions , 6 foot distancing , air purifiers , masks and shields , stickers and signs , and COVID screening . Many of the programs are still in person activities . 
They are also using phone calls and face time to keep connected , as well as fresh air visits .
AIM provides summer camps , and 10 virtual classes per day .
COVID has increased staffing needs , and caused reduced revenue .
Some  participants pay for the programming . Others may receive passport funding from the government , which can range between $ 5K , and $ 30K . Others may require donations through charity , to participate .
AIM raises money by selling garden plants through PLANTABLES.CA  They receive 10 % back from plant sales .

SERGEANT-AT-ARMS SCHEDULE

The Sgt.‐At‐Arms (SAA) shall mark the attendance sheet, input Guest Names, Visiting Rotarians and Make‐ups submitted by club members, as well as calculate the meeting percentage. You will also give the invocation when requested by the President. At the end of the meeting make sure the Secretary has the “Secretary’s Copy”.

In addition, the SAA shall also fill in the attendance details on the “Bulletin Editor’s Copy” and make sure the editor receives it by the end of the meeting.

The person who is responsible for any Ticket sales shall enter the cash details on the “Treasurer’s Copy”. They shall also collect the Happy Toonies and enter that information on the same sheet. At the end of the meeting they shall give the treasurer the tally sheet along with the cash in an envelope. There is a supply of banker’s envelopes in the tote box.
