TABLE TALK
Zoom talk included the usual Maple Leafs vs the Habs excitement,  the Leaf's fans expressing hopeful enthusiasm and the Hab's fans refusing to accept defeat. (it is now Tuesday morning and I can still hear the Leaf's fans sobbing in their beer)

SERGEANT-AT-ARMS REPORT
16 members were present on Zoom this afternoon, we were also graced with the presence of 2 guest speakers. We continue to miss those few members who have not joined us on Zoom as yet, we hope you are doing well and we look forward to seeing you soon.
HAPPY-TOONIES
Larry Olney had a wonderful weekend at his cottage and at home.

Gerry Menezes finally got his full refund from Air Canada. He received his entire refund down to the last cent.

Ken Denholm had a great weekend as well.

Fred Schiedel had a good weekend at his cottage but he was well eaten by mosquitoes and his freezer finally died.;

Dean Fitzgerald paid a visit to Manitoulin Island. There he found quite a few old oil wells. The lake water was very low which made it easier to find these previously used oil wells. Dean then gave us a short description of the old oil wells and the contamination they are causing. Dean has previously spoken on this topic to our club, perhaps he would be willing to update us, as the speaker,, on his more recent findings.

Dave Thomas was so happy he did not unmute his mic and so no one heard about his happiness.

GUEST SPEAKER
Dean introduced our Guest Speakers today. Dean and his family have been occasionally fostering feral cats in the neighbourhood. They have come in contact with a number of local people who have dedicated their lives to help and rescue feral cats in the area. Today Julia Mortimer and her associate Dianna are hereto tell us about their experience rescuing cats in the Cambridge area.

Dianna and Julia are both members of Cat's Meow, Dianna started Cats Meow in May last year and it has been very successful. The main goal was to reunite lost and found cats with their owners, they also started to rescue feral cats in the area. The cats are trapped them spayed or neutered and released back into the area the cat has been frequenting. This allows the cat to return to the area it is accustomed to but is unable to reproduce. All cats found are checked for microchips, unfortunately they do not have enough microchips checkers. Checking cats for microchips helps to reunite the lost cat with its previous owner.
The trapping of cats have also become high tech. They now have cages equipped with a camera and an Internet connection, this allows them to see exactly when the cat enters the cage.
Cats Meow has sick and injured cats treated at a local Veterinary Clinic, this unfortunately can be very expensive even though the treatments are done with a veterinary clinic discount.

Diana and Julia were both thanked for their presentation by Pres. Laureen, they are obviously very dedicated to the life of cats in the Cambridge area.

Pres. Laureen then sent us on our way,  until next week, stay safe everyone.
