GUEST SPEAKER
Peter introduced our speaker, Tanya McCready.

Tanya told a story of her life in Guelph as an environmental engineer which became up-ended when she and her husband picked up a husky pup and a local pet store because it looked soooo cute.

This was the beginning of a journey that would take them from 1 husky to 150 .... from Guelph to Haliburton ... to changing careers and becoming full-time husky trainers and running a sledding business.
So, in 1999, this young couple quit their jobs and moved to Haliburton, built dog kennels and then a house and began to raise huskies and a family. This journey included several harrowing dog sled races in the Yukon (Yukon Quest)  and Alaska ( Iditarod - 8-14 day race) and hosting 2000 guests annually at their facility in Haliburton. Her story was fascinating and inspiring....you had to be there.
