OPENING CEREMONIES
President Laureen was missing in action, Past President Sean however was quick to come to the rescue and without missing a beat (he did need a little prompting) easily filled in for the President. Sean did the invocation and the toast to the Queen and Canada

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Environmental clean-up date is not yet established . Paul has not been able to contact GRCA. They seem to be missing in action. Dean promised to make a special effort to contact them and arrange an environmental clean up.

Fred Schiedel informed us that Charlene's brother Ron Doyle has passed away. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Fred and Charlene and family.

We discussed information on the Chase the Ace program, Larry and Dave Thomas will try to restart discussions on this topic.

Peter informed us that we have only 1 empty speaker slot for this Rotary year.

GUEST SPEAKER

We did not have a Guest Speaker today, We were very fortunate that Larry was available to give us a brief description of his recent stay in Arizona.

In the Park where he stayed Covid was well controlled. Some residents got very sick from Covid, the Park had a lot of controls in place, new arrivals had to quarantine for 14 days. Unfortunately 2 people in the park passed away from Covid and a  few were quite ill. Larry picked up bronchitis while he was there, likely from daily clearing away the dust in the Putting Green. Both Larry and Anita received  both Covid vaccinations complements of the Government of the USA.

On returning to Canada they decided not to fly into Toronto since this would entail a 3 day stay in a hotel in Toronto. They flew into Buffalo and did a taxi ride to the Rainbow Bridge. They walked across the bridge and had a relatively pleasant interaction with the Border Services before they were released to self quarantine at home. They were also given a Covid test kit which had to be done as soon as they arrived home.

Fred Schiedel  ended the meeting with an Irish Prayer and Past President Sean dismissed us.
