TABLE TALK
There was a fair amount of discussion with respect to the cookie size.  Some members received wo smaller versions while a couple of others were provided only one.
Talk then drifted to the topics of opioids and who is more at fault....the company that created the drug or the doctors that prescribe the drugs.
Paul commented about the plight of stranded travellers resulting from Thomas Cook Travel declaring insolvency.
The merits of the Carbon Tax surfaced as members queried as to where the all the funds from the tax were going...towards green projects or just into general revenues???

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Laureen announced that she attended the District Conference on Niagara last week and reports that it was excellent. She will share more of the details over the coming weeks.

Laureen will be meeting with Rotary Club of Cambridge Sunrise to discuss the future of Ribfest.

The Bechtel Park project will be in full gear this weekend.  The project includes the building of a new and more robust gazebo.

Paul announced that next week (Oct 2, 2019) our club will be presenting a Paul Harris Award to Marg Stahlbaum and he encourages as many members as possible to attend.

We had a special visitor.  Kristen Danson (Chair of the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank) presented a community award of merit to the Rotary Club of Cambridge North in recognition of our support to the building of the website and the childrens hub.  Paul Witmer accepted the award on behalf of the club.

GUEST SPEAKER

Our Guest speaker was Dr. Camille Krause.  Camille is a Naturopathic Dr. located I Cambridge.

The good Dr. talked to us about the topic of maintaining our energy and how to improve our sleep.

The most important part of her message is that we all require more Fat, Fibre, and Protein in our diets. and that we could all use more activities to help alleviate stress (ie:  exercise or walks).

The average adult requires between 20and 30 grams of protein on our diets (something most of us lack).  An easy solution to the problem is to have a protein shake with your breakfast.

Consuming foods rich in magnesium will help a good sleep as it assists in the creation of melatonin.

A couple of other tricks to help a better sleep is to avoid alcohol prior to sleep.

We thanked Dr. Krause for her very informative presentation.
